The tough guys of MBC‘s “Real Men” went to the Philippines for their first dispatch overseas.
According to a representative from the show, “Real Men” members Kim Su Ro, Seo Kyung Suk, Park Hyung Shik, Sam Hammington, Park Gun Hyung, Chun Jung Myung, K.Will, and Henry left for the Philippines on May 5 with the Araw Unit of the Korean Armed Forces. The group is expected to work with the troops for a total of five nights and six days.
Since considering a shoot wherein the members will be dispatched on a mission overseas, “Real Men” has been in close discussion with the Department of Defense since last year, and they have finally decided to shoot in the Philippines.
For its first overseas assignment, “Real Men” was originally considering going to the Lebanon Dongmyeong Unit to engage in humanitarian assistance and military aid to civil authorities. Considering the situation and safety, however, they have decided on joining the Philippine Araw Unit. Although the country is still in the middle of mourning the Sewol Ferry disaster, it would be difficult to move the shoot that has been planned months prior. The cast of “Real Men” will instead proceed with filming the show with caution, according to a representative from the show.
The Araw Unit was dispatched to the Philippines in December 2013 to help in the disaster recovery of the country that was devastated by the super Typhoon Haiyan. Until now, an engineering unit and a medical unit consisting of about 500 service men were deployed for disaster restoration and humanitarian assistance. The Philippines has helped Korea before in the Korean War, making this mission an even more meaningful one.
